If you were to borrow my headphones and take them out for a run or workout, you would hear the following songs on repeat: "Edge of Glory" - Lady Gaga, "S&M" - Rhianna, "Tik Tok" - Ke$ha, and "I Gotta Feelin" - Black Eyed Peas among a shuffle of other songs.
Help! My playlist is trapped somewhere between 2009 and late 2010. I have a few songs that are more recent which I added before Marine Corps but that's only because I've convinced my friend Adam to make me a mix CD before my last 2 marathons and I haven't added anything since then and well, I'm kind of tired of listening to "Don't Stop Believing."
When I graduated from college, I sold my car and moved to Boston. Since then, I haven't listened to a radio. Every time, I've made the trip to DC for another one of my friends' killer parties where DJ Adam (who makes my marathon mix CDs) plays a sweet playlist and I go home and download all of the songs I remember from the party. Once in a while, I'll check out the Billboard Top 40 and go through the songs on their various lists and try to make a playlist but let's face it - balancing school and work has left me little time to do that.
So needless to say, my music playlist is in desperate need of an upgrade.
Do people still listen to Ke$ha?
Is Britney Spears' come back still back?
Is "Firework" still Katy Perry's latest song?
Has Miley come out with anything since "Can't be Tamed?"
I need to know the answers to these questions people! So I'm hosting a CD swap! Lauren hosted one of these last winter and I got some great tunes from it but clearly haven't done anything since. So I decided to host a swap because while your music needs may not be as dire as mine, I'm sure we'd all like to freshen up our playlists.
If you're interested in participating, leave a comment with the following information:
1) Your email address
2) Your favorite types of music
3) The one song you can't workout without listening to
I'll try to pair you up with someone with similar music tastes! There will be a 10 song minimum rule and you'll have a week or so to get your CDs out. I'll leave the swap open for about a week or so and then I'll announce your blog swap partners!
The more who participate the better so blog about it, tweet about it, whatever! If enough people participate, I'll give everyone 2 partners!
And in case you're wondering? The one song I can't work out without listening to? "Stronger" - Britney Spears.
Judge me.

OK So I would love to do this .. but I live in the UK .. am I still allowed?!
ReplyDeleteI am just getting back into exercising (slowly) by walking into work and more elsewhere too and would love to have a playlist that helps me get enthusiastic and motivated to do it more!
In case I'm allowed (although completely understand if not!) my email address is emma@mylifeandthings.com, I love most music (especially House, Dance, Top40, Rock) and love to listen to "Rock your Body Rock" by Ferry Corsten as a favourite!

Hi, This sounds like such a great idea! I have music A.D.D when I run, and can't get into a nice tempo unless I have the perfect playlist (totally neurotic...) But I definitely need to update my songs!
ReplyDeleteMy email is stephtc87@gmail.com. My running music preferences don't necessarily align with my everyday music preferences, but I love running to Top 40s, R&B, and rap!
Two songs that have not left my playlist in a year are "More" by Usher, and "Right Above It" by lil wayne and Drake :]
This sounds like such a fun idea! I have music A.D.D when I run, and need the perfect playlist or else I just can't get in the zone (kinda neurotic...) But I definitely need to update my playlist! I know what you mean about not having a car and falling behind on music updates... same thing happened tome when I moved here from Los Angeles!

This sounds fun!
ReplyDeleteI listen to a lot of music. But when I run, its often rap or pop. I love country too. I would never turn my nose up to BSB or Bieber either. :-D
The first song on my running playlist is ALWAYS Jamiroquai's Virtual Insanity. Just puts me in a great mood.
My email is ameubanks@gmail.com
What a great idea! Who isn't always looking for some fun new tunes?

2) Alternative '90s, but when I'm working out I also enjoy some hip-hop or silly pop songs.
3) Right now it's "We Found Love" by Rihanna, but an old favorite has been (oddly enough) "Defying Gravity" from Wicked. It has the perfect build-up to run to!
Thanks for organizing this! Happy Friday!
LOVE THIS!!
ReplyDelete1. jenamcginnis@yahoo.com
2. work out jams consist of pop and hip hop
3. I'm hooked on Katy Perry "E.T." right now. I so need something new!!
Thanks for this, super excited.
Hey Christy! I just saw a bloggy friend post about she & her partner swapping music, and I just realized I never received my partner! =(
ReplyDeleteThanks!
